                              RELEASE NOTES FOR V3.0a

This release is treated in most respects the same as V3.0, with only
2 changes

1.   This change prevents Girlfriend from locking up at midnight.  If no
keyboard activity is going on at midnight, the previous version might lock
up and require re-booting the computer.  This has been fixed.

2.   In Adult versions, some procedures might be executed before the Girl-
friend was ready for them.  This has been fixed.

                              RELEASE NOTES FOR V3.0
This release contains all of the V2.8 release modifications, plus anything
that was brought to our attention during the Girlfriend Tracy beta test.
Thanks a bunch to our hundreds of beta testers who suffered through loading
about 20 diskettes each to bring you this incredible product!

1.   You can now say "Again", "Repeat", "Do it again", etc., and she will
respond many times faster than any of the previous releases.

2.   You can now specify your nickname, as in "Dave is my nickname", and she
will use that as a term of endearment.  (Awwwwwwww, how sweeeeeet!)

3.   Revamped the opening startup screen again to use our new rotating head
logo and to explain why we believe Girlfriend is a quantum leap ahead in the
race to duplicate homo sapiens.

4.   Added credits to end of each personality.

5.   (Hopefully) fixed all known bugs that were reported in V2.8 beta test.


                              RELEASE NOTES FOR V2.8

This is a major revision, including over 500 different modifications from
version V2.7!  It was only released Girlfriend Tracy beta testers.

1.   This version represents the first software in the world to show full-
motion graphics display while simultaneously allowing keyboard input of com-
plete sentences.  Certain full-motion sequences are available, starting with
Girlfriend Tracy, when the Girlfriends are in particular rooms, or involved in
certain activities.  Not all personality kits will include this full-motion.

2.   Version V2.8 also includes greatly enhanced knowledge of personality,
temperament, and behavioral styles as they relate to careers and inter-personal
relationships.

3.   Girlfriend now understands about the user's children, and wants to know
all about them, including not only their names, but their birthdates and info
about their personality.

4.   The GFCHECK diagnostics program is now supplied with the software, letting
you diagnose potential hardware and software problems if you have an instal-
lation or run-time error.

5.   A new file, GFERR.LOG is now created and contains any error messages that
may have occurred during run-time, and which could not be displayed on the CRT.

6.   The software no longer requires ANY expanded or extended memory.

7.   There is now a /LOWIQ switch (use it by saying GF /LOWIQ at startup) that
will allow slower computers to process sentences faster, but at the cost of a
slightly reduced comprehension rate for certain sentences.  The speed increase
is significant, but this switch is not recommended if you have a 486DX-2 or
faster, because it will definitely make her dumber.

8.   She now understands dates, for example, "My birthday was yesterday", or
"Susan's birthday is 01/19/1947", and can figure ages from those dates.

9.   The main screen background and layout has been radically altered to im-
prove its looks.  The intro screens have been redone completely.

10.   Girlfriend now ignores duplicate words in a sentence, and also handles
the word "please" much better now.

11.   In the CD-ROM versions, the "hide" screen has been replaced to look like
something from a Windows spreadsheet.  In the diskette version, it is still
created manually by the program and looks a bit different, for space reasons.
You can now also enter the hide screen by pressing the ESCape key when it's
your turn to talk.  Or you can say "HIDE" or "HIDE (anything else)".

12.   You can now say "Be quiet", "stop talking", or other similar statements,
and she will stop talking temporarily if the voice software is installed and
you used GF /SB to start up the program.  Later on, you can say "Continue
talking", and she will resume voice output.  ("Continue talking" will not work
if you used the /NV or /Q options in your GF command.)

13.   Some adult Girlfriends, starting with Girlfriend Tracy, allow you to say
"lower your top", or "raise your dress", or handle other half-way exposures.
In Girlfriend Tracy, only the green dress has graphics showing this.  Once the
dress has been lowered or raised, you have access to that part of the body.

14.   Tons of modifications were made for G-rated Personality Kits.  Girlfriend
Lisa was formerly PG-13 and has been modified to a G rating.  She won't talk
dirty to you, and we can't show you anything above G-rated graphics, so we
added lots of other stuff to compensate for the removed features.  For example,
Girlfriend Maria can play the piano and cook.  As a result, all Girlfriends
are much more able to discuss a wider variety of topics, and can suggest them
as well, if you ask them what they want to talk about.

15.   If she asks you how you feel, and you say "I am great", she no longer
considers you conceited.  (One of those pesky ambiguities of our language.)

16.   If you tell her to "forget" a person's name, she will not only remove
it from her vocabulary, but won't keep bringing that name up in future con-
versations, either.

17.  The following sequence was a typical occurence under previous versions:
U:"I like to frumpwash"  G:"I don't know frumpwash.  What does it mean."
U:"Boy, are you stupid!"  G:"I understand now.  Frumpwash is a boy."
This happened more often than not, so we eliminated the implication that the
next sentence after an unknown word would automatically be one that defines
that word.  Now, to define a new word, you must now always spell out the entire
sentence: "Frumpwash means eat."  Don't assume that she knows what you mean by
using partial sentences.  For example, G:"I don't know frumpwash.  What does it
mean?"  U:"eat"  will now produce something like G:"OK, I am eating."

18.  She now understands who "he" and "she" are, under most circumstances.

19.  She now knows your name if you ask her "Who is <YourNameHere>?"

20.  If you ran Girlfriend under Windows, she tried to initialize the Sound
Blaster card, even if you turned voice OFF (i.e. GF /Q) with the result that
Windows would issue an error message, and Girlfriend would report error 2006.
That has been corrected.  Also, missing voice files no longer cause crashes.

21.  She didn't know what "nice" meant.  She didn't know if she would like to
eat, drink, dance, and many other things that used to work in earlier versions.


                              RELEASE NOTES FOR V2.7

This version is required for the GIRLFRIEND SPEAKS voice output kit and the
CD-ROM versions.  It incorporates over 250 changes from V2.6.

1.   The replies have been modified somewhat to eliminate words or sounds that
cannot be correctly voiced by the speech processor.

2.   The /D switch was added to the GF command to allow display of certain
diagnostic information on startup to help troubleshoot memory problems.

3.   The /V switch was changed to /SB for Sound Blaster compatible voice.  See
GF /? for other switches added or changed.

4.   If she asked you if you like certain types of sex, and you answered yes
or no, in previous versions she misinterpreted the resulting sentence due to
an extra space in the assumed reply.

5.   She is interested in seeing what other software you have on your system,
and will look around and ask you about things she finds.

6.   A bug caused her to forget that she had ever experienced orgasms.  Now
she keeps better track of such important information.

7.   She has better responses if you say something nonsensical or trivial.

8.   Under certain circumstances, she might be led to believe you had female
genitalia.  We couldn't allow that to go on, now, could we?


                              RELEASE NOTES FOR V2.6

1.   The procedures for reading a book, watching television, and taking a bath
   did not always work correctly, and were awkwardly slow when used on a fast
   processor.  These procedures have been fixed and fine-tuned.

2.   Asking her to discuss certain "adult toys" resulted in a system crash.
   This has been corrected.


                              RELEASE NOTES FOR V2.4

1.   There were some bugs in the graphics that prevented the following images
   from being seen:  Girlfriend Lisa in angora sweater and jeans, lying on the
   sofa;  Girlfriend Suzy in a teddy lying on the bed in the bedroom.


                              RELEASE NOTES FOR V2.3

 1.  Several bugs were corrected to handle some weird questions, such as:
   "What are you?", "Where am I?", as well as some others which should be
    simple, such as: "Are you a virgin?", "Where are you?".  We also fixed
    some other general questions about whether she does particular things.


                              RELEASE NOTES FOR V2.2

 1.  A bug was corrected which would cause a "Division by zero in GFLib" error.
    There was a chance of 1 in 13 of getting this error on startup.

 2.  If the user says: "Remove your clothing", she takes off one article at a
    time and asks "Do you want more?".  If he continues to say "Yes" and they
    have not known each other for at least one hour, she gets into a loop.
    That bug was fixed in this version.

 3.  The version number is now displayed on the startup screen in fine print.


                              RELEASE NOTES FOR V2.1

 1.  All Girlfriends were programmed not to remove the last article of clothing
    until they have spent at least one hour of time with their boyfriend.  This
    was done on the recommendation of several parent and church groups which
    felt that our Girlfriends were a bit too "loose".  We compromised and gave
    Girlfriend hormones so that this time limit can be overridden (i.e. she
    will give in) if she is sufficiently aroused.  In other words, we wanted to
    be entirely realistic!
